We rescued a dog (and so should you)!

Rescue puppers are best puppers.

Whenever Melissa and I talked about adopting another pet, we agreed it’d be a rescue, and not necessarily a puppy. There’s a lot of good reasons why, including saving a soul, but the short of it was to literally throw a dog a bone, and change the course of their furry lives.

But we weren’t actually looking to adopt right away. We only came into Pet Valu to look, but fell in love and applied that same day to adopt. It was the cutest trap ever conceived.

Just look at these little fluffballs:

In no particular order: Raph, Leo, Donnie, and Mikey

Enter Mikey, whom we named Finnegan because of the iconic Mr. Dressup puppet that all eighties kids will remember. We think he’s a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix, and he’s going to be BIG (in more ways than one)!

Besides being the cutest fluffer nugget ever, we got to support Windy City Canine Rescue and the volunteers who foster dogs, young and old. Here’s what they’re about:

Windy City Canine Rescue

The Windy City Canine Rescue is a group of volunteers based in Lethbridge, Alberta working to help older dogs in need of a new home. Our goal is to make sure that a dog that has already had one family, finds his/her perfect match this time around.

Finnegan wasn’t free, though he came chipped, vaccinated and will be getting neutered once he’s about six months old. That’s all included in the $475 adoption fee, which is pretty damn reasonable. The same goes for any rescue. We also got some pretty amazing coupons for Pet Valu, which made buying a crate easier, food cheaper, and a dog tag free.

So here’s my call-to-action:

UPDATE: All four brothers found a forever home!

Mikey Finnegan has three brothers, and Leo still is looking for his forever home! Don’t tell Finn, but we asked for Leo first, so his adoption must have fallen through (poor lil’ guy).

Can you deny this face?

We’re hoping that our faithful readers might take interest in this little (growing up quickly though) guy, and hope he finds a loving family sooner than later.

Here’s a last look at Finnegan and how big he’s grown. He was the same height as Lola only a month ago, and is one handsome fella:
