World Fair Trade Day is fair

Not only would today be World Belly Dance Day, but it’s also World Fair Trade Day. I think the prior must have been inspired by the latter at some point. But it seems like there’s a day for everything now; at least they have good intentions behind them. On May 9th, people around the globe …

Endangered Ape EP release party tonight

Endangered ApeOne of our favourite Lethbridge bands, Endangered Ape, are releasing their second EP “Ape Shall Not Kill Ape” tonight at Henotic. Adam writes:

My beloveds,

It has been many moons since Endangered Ape first started playing tunes here in Lethbridge to the fine members of the community and you have consistently blessed us with coming out, losing your shit, rocking out, and overall, being incredibly good-looking. Every night has been a frickin’ party, and it’s awesome that you fine people have checked us out.

The Myelin Sheaths hit YouTube

If you weren’t at Henotic last night to catch the debut of Lethbridge’s hot, new girl-group (with 2 boys) The Myelin Sheaths, some crafty character uploaded their entire show to YouTube. He must of been standing right next to me the whole time and I never even noticed. Remind me never to be a watchman…

The Myelin Sheaths are so hot right now

The Myelin Sheaths

So I got word from Paul Lawton that The Myelin Sheaths are also playing this Friday at Henotic. Since I’m pretty much in love with everyone from that band (except Joel because he’s a ginger), I asked Paul to give me the low down on this “unique girl-group on acid sound.”

Adaline hits the National Post

Here’s an update to my post earlier this week: It seems that Vancouver musician Adaline is winning more than just the heart Robert Pattinson, but rather fans from across the world. Beyond the +30,000 plays on her MySpace page, she is now featured in CHARTattack, the Vancouver Sun and even the National Post. “What is …

Adaline’s brush with “Edward Cullen”

Vancouver musician Shawna Beesley (a.k.a. adaline) is reportedly romantically-linked to Robert Pattinson after meeting at a Juno Afterparty at Richards on Richards, a popular music venue in Vancouver. “I’m just happy to have this moment with you.” At that point, he pulled me into an warm embrace… Okay, maybe I skewed that just a little, …

Some say party, we say “RD!”

Every city has a scene – some are bigger, some are badder but all a reflection of what that city/town/rural meet up is. Lethbridge, typically thought of as a conservative town, has an incredible “scene.” From Endangered Ape to The Turncoats; The Darby and Joan Club to the Chief Mountain and the White Guy; we have got it all. There is an interesting dynamic here in Lethbridge. We have a ton of musical artists, many who play in several bands, some who play in almost all. A changing face almost every month, projects and sub-projects appear and disappear. There are a few people who really drive it, you can usually tell who these people are in any city. Certain distinguishing marks set these go getter’s out.

An Explosion Of World Dance and Music

If there’s one thing I don’t like, it’s half-naked dancing women. It’s not fair – I’m focusing really hard on my two-step, but they’re all “looking hot” and distracting me! Well, next time I’m gonna wear my mesh t-shirt…then we’ll see who’s bringing sexy back! So every once in a while, I prefer to just …

And the #1 live music venue in Canada is…

…not The Slice. [audio:https://lethbianlove.ca/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/priceisright-losinghorn.mp3%5D Initially I questioned how they even made the list, but the reality is that competition for live music in Lethbridge has been sorely lacking. But when opportunity arose, they successfully filled the void that the Tongue ‘n Groove had left behind. So I must congratulate the owners of The Slice, Jesse …
