Tying into Pitch-In Week, tomorrow is Earth Day Canada. Celebrated annually on April 22, it’s “a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment.” Personally, I’ll be watching old episodes of Captain Planet the entire day. And not just because I have a crush on Linka, but because I care about the environment. And cartoon babes in general.
Edit, Lethbridge’s sustainable fashion shoppe, will be taking part with a contest to win one of 3 Earth Day Prize Packs, offering customers 10% – 30% off their purchase of regular priced clothing & accessories and free cupcakes from Crazy Cakes. Not just that, but as of tomorrow Edit is going bagless, so remember to bring your own reusable tote when buying something there (which I definitely encourage).
But it’s also about the free crap you can get, like the all-day “Bring Your Own Cup (BYOC)” thing, where participating vendors give out coffee to anyone with a reusable mug:
- Between 10AM – 4:30PM, the Galt Museum is giving away 45 travel mugs (donated by Cargill Foods), as well as free coffee to anyone who brings their own mug.
- The same goes for all Starbucks locations, who will reward customers with a complimentary cup of Pike Place Roast, probably their cheapest blend (but still better than anywhere else).
- The Chinook Regional Hospital cafeteria will be introducing eco-friendly disposables, and also giving away free coffee between 9AM – 5PM.
- The full list of BYOC vendors should be on lethbridge.ca, but as of writing have yet to show up. To be safe, I would just bring my mug everywhere I go. And wear diapers, because that’s a lot of coffee.
So while you’re going around town getting your free coffee, make an effort to help clean up the city but picking up any trash you see and dispose/recycle it!
I’m a webslinger located in Lethbridge, AB. I love all things nerdy, like cartoons and videogames, and am also a bit of a foodie. When I travel, I always keep my eyes out for hot springs and great places to adventure with my wife, Melissa.
