Remember Lynol Lui? He shot this great photoset of Brooke Kreeft, Lethbridge’s newest top model of the “Look of Live Cosmo” contest. Nice work to everyone!

My Style featuring Paul

I first “saw” Paul on a visit to Lethbridge a few years ago. I distinctly remember the plaid Diesel shirt that he had on. Flash Forward to a year later, when I actually moved to Lethbridge; I first “met” Paul at a costume party, he was dressed as an angel, and I was dressed as my interpretation of “the devil wearing Prada”. Paul and I are now friends!

My Style featuring Sarah

I met Sarah a couple years ago at our local video store. In a town with very poor customer service, Sarah was a diamond in the rough. Over the past couple of years I have had the pleasure of getting to know Sarah; and now, have the pleasure to call her my very stylish friend.

Occupation?
Sarah, soon to be graduated Stage Managing/Costume Designing Student!

Where’d your outfit come from?
Shirt & Broach: Value Village Shoes: Catholic Charities Skirt: I MADE IT!!! Belt: Joanne’s

Something about me?
I love finding clothing that no one else has and putting my own spin on
it. My favorite and first place I go to in thrift stores is the jewellery case, I like to think I am great at finding beauty in the obscure and random. I also LOVE making my own clothes, as clothing is the way I try to express myself. Also, I am a natural red head.

My Style featuring Julia

Julia, whom I’ve mentioned recently, is one of the bestest waitresses ever. She has served me lots and lots of beer. I mean, a lot. I’m drunk right now actulsaffasy.

One reason I like her is that she always looks great, even when I am sober. This past Sunday I had my camera on hand and asked if she’d oblige to be featured on the blog. So here we go:

Occupation?
Student/Bartender/Waitress

Where’d your outfit come from?
100% Winners

Style influences?
Myself! I like to be comfortable, and if I find a piece I think is interesting I find a way to make it work. I am a big fan of layers. I don’t really have one style… I do what I want.

Something about me?
I can hyper extend my elbows and spread all of my toes.

My Style featuring Lynol

So I am finding that even though we live in a city, sometimes it feels more like a small town. That being said, I now assume that everyone I know, somehow knows everyone else that I know.

In that six degrees of separation, I met Lynol.

Lynol was introduced to me through Paul (who will be profiled in My Style in a couple of weeks), and I couldn’t stop staring; amazing style. When Lynol came in for the shoot, it turns out that he knew Jaime (our photographer), and the story doesn’t end there.

I could go on…but instead you need to see for yourself:

Occupation?
Lynol Lui Photographer/Post-Production

Where’d your outfit come from?
Chimala denims, Vintage boots, T-Shirt by Custom Made, Tailored Jacket by Unconditional, glasses and ring bought in a market.

Style influences?
I like to look at latest editorials from such magazines like: i-D, Dazed, Numero, Arena, 125… designers/stylists, friends, blogs and fashion week.

Something about me?
I still have a teddy bear that sits on my bed.

Lethbridge Fashion Weekend is zesty

Oh joy! “Joie de Vivre,” Lethbridge Fashion Week’s spring theme, is set for this weekend at the Lethbridge Legion. Also, Lethbian Love is not becoming a fashion blog. It’s just a time to celebrate old man winter releasing his stranglehold grip upon Southern Alberta! It’s kinda ironic though, since the Legion smells like old spice …

My Style L.A. featuring Jessica

I met Jessica randomly one day on my way back from lunch. She was sitting with an acquaintance of mine, drawing  patterns for her fashion class. With her cool tattoos and a dress made from a found skirt, I saw that she had a great style (and an even better smile). She’s pretty natural behind the camera too.

Occupation:
Fashion Design Student, Creative Thinker.

Where’d your outfit come from?
Nearly each layer came from a different place. The shoes were a gem found at Value Village, legwear from Ardenes, shorts from somewhere in California, cardigan and scarf from Wal-Mart, jacket was from Ricki’s and I got my t-shirt when I saw the Vancouver-based band The Jolts play…and then I cut it up.

Style Influences:
Everything: my mood that day, the season, friends, strangers, what music I’ve been listening to, magazines, vintage, comfort, self-expression…I was asked today how I picked my outfits in the morning and I didn’t really know how to answer. I just try stuff on until I’m happy, which is also why I can’t keep my room clean.

Something about me:
I cut my own hair. I like vinyls. And tattoos. I’m good with animals and children. I’m a BC girl, born and raised. I’m pretty weird, but people seem to like it. I like individuals and quirks.

My Style L.A. featuring Kat

Occupation:
Student, coat check/beer tub girl.

Where’d your outfit come from?
My cardigan and dress both came from Sapporo, Japan.

Style Influences:
Style influences are Harajuku street fashion mixed with gothic/punk/sweet lolita.

Something about me:
Something about me is that I am obsessed with cats, and zombies. I collect zombie movies, and my favourite zombie director is George A. Romero.
