Wax Mannequin comes to Lethbridge

Chris Adeney, known to most as Wax Mannequin, is one of my favourite Canadian musicians (besides Leeroy Stagger and Bryan Adams).  Though I haven’t seen many bands lately, his shows make me suffer The Slice at least once a year. And that time is almost at hand, as he comes to Lethbridge on March 31 as part of his “Hear Some Evil” tour with The Burning Hell.

Wax Mannequin was born in the smoke and industry of Hamilton; a damaged, underdog town; a perfect breeding ground for strange, variant things. Incorporating folk, scrappy prog-metal and a tireless creative ethic, Wax infused his local influences with road-broken experience to forge something unsettlingly new.

Virgin orgy tonight

No, I’m not kidding. Tonight at The Slice, random strangers will sandwich each other in a “cuddle party.” A cuddle party, as described by Wikipedia, allows “people to experience non-sexual group physical intimacy through cuddling.” Tonight’s event provides “tools for better communication and intimacy, and information about the benefits of touch.” Talk about Lethbian love!  …

Some say party, we say “RD!”

Every city has a scene – some are bigger, some are badder but all a reflection of what that city/town/rural meet up is. Lethbridge, typically thought of as a conservative town, has an incredible “scene.” From Endangered Ape to The Turncoats; The Darby and Joan Club to the Chief Mountain and the White Guy; we have got it all. There is an interesting dynamic here in Lethbridge. We have a ton of musical artists, many who play in several bands, some who play in almost all. A changing face almost every month, projects and sub-projects appear and disappear. There are a few people who really drive it, you can usually tell who these people are in any city. Certain distinguishing marks set these go getter’s out.
